The EXIS Project (enhancing police officers to fight discrimination and effectively respond to crimes against LGBTIQ+ people) aims to develop a multidisciplinary police reporting framework that addresses crimes committed against LGBTIQ+ individuals while fostering a culture of respect within police interactions and reporting procedures.<\/p>\n
The EXIS Project will result in the development of a comprehensive and inclusive approach to police reporting that ensures effective and sensitive responses to incidents involving LGBTIQ+ persons. It also strives to cultivate a non-biased, respectful, and informed culture in LEAs when engaging with members of the LGBTIQ+ community.<\/p>\n
Through capacity-building activities tailored to identified needs and gaps, as well as peer-to-peer learning methodologies, the EXIS Project focuses on enhancing knowledge, promoting intersectoral collaboration, and strengthening multidisciplinary cooperation between police officers, civil society organizations (CSOs), and other relevant services.<\/p>\n
This approach aims to ensure a more effective response to the needs of the LGBTIQ+ community, prevent hate crimes and discrimination, and ultimately challenge and dismantle entrenched, restrictive, and stereotypical perceptions within law enforcement practices.<\/p>\n
