The NoHate Police project is celebrating its first year of implementation. Throughout this past year, significant progress has been made, as the project steadily works towards its goal of empowering police officers, commanders, cadets, and investigators to effectively recognize and respond to hate incidents.<\/strong><\/p>\n Funded by the European Union, this project brings together two police forces, two civil society organizations, and two research and education institutes<\/strong> in a unique consortium.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n In the first 12 months, the project has made significant strides.<\/p>\n Understanding the Landscape: <\/strong>We began by conducting a thorough training needs analysis and a comprehensive review, yielding valuable insights into the current state of hate speech and hate crime in Greece and Cyprus.\u00a0<\/p>\n Building the Foundation:<\/strong> A robust NoHate Police curriculum and a trainers’ guide is currently being developed, along with supplementary teaching and learning materials. These resources will serve as the cornerstone for effective police training. \u00a0<\/p>\n Embracing Technology:<\/strong> We are currently developing a state-of-the-art NoHate Police eLearning course aimed at providing a flexible and accessible learning experience for police officers.\u00a0<\/p>\n Spreading Awareness:<\/strong> The launch of our project website and social media channels, along with dedicated workshops held in Athens and Nicosia, has significantly increased awareness of the project and its objectives. Our goal is to familiarize and raise awareness both of our project and hate speech in our online community.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n The next phase of the project will focus on:<\/p>\n Empowering Police Officers:<\/strong> By delivering the NoHate Police face to face seminars to 400 police officers in Greece and Cyprus, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to effectively combat hate speech and hate crime. Adding to these 200 police officers will be trained in the eLearning course based on the same curricula.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sharing Best Practices:<\/strong> By organising a final conference in Athens, which will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the project’s findings and raise awareness on best practices. \u00a0<\/p>\n Ensuring Sustainability:<\/strong> We will continue to share the project results and advocate for the adoption of the NoHate Police curriculum and eLearning course, ensuring the project’s lasting impact and sustainability.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n The NoHate Police project is a testament to the power of collaboration.
