Synergies

The EXIS Project (enhancing police officers to fight discrimination and effectively respond to crimes against LGBTIQ+ people) aims to develop a multidisciplinary police reporting framework that addresses crimes committed against LGBTIQ+ individuals while fostering a culture of respect within police interactions and reporting procedures.

The EXIS Project will result in the development of a comprehensive and inclusive approach to police reporting that ensures effective and sensitive responses to incidents involving LGBTIQ+ persons. It also strives to cultivate a non-biased, respectful, and informed culture in LEAs when engaging with members of the LGBTIQ+ community.

Through capacity-building activities tailored to identified needs and gaps, as well as peer-to-peer learning methodologies, the EXIS Project focuses on enhancing knowledge, promoting intersectoral collaboration, and strengthening multidisciplinary cooperation between police officers, civil society organizations (CSOs), and other relevant services.

This approach aims to ensure a more effective response to the needs of the LGBTIQ+ community, prevent hate crimes and discrimination, and ultimately challenge and dismantle entrenched, restrictive, and stereotypical perceptions within
law enforcement practices.
